No need for a cardiologist

Look at these beautifully normal heart rates . . . while my body still remains a medical mystery – I celebrate the fact that today, for once in my life – I am normal. I do not need to consult a physician – I’m sure Dr. Joey is celebrating the lack of his daily phone call. Six miles in one hour and 23 seconds – MHR – 172!

In other medical news – lucky Kenza is in the process of getting braces. Last week blue spacers were installed, this week expanders. Don’t blame me – she has her father’s fucked messed up teeth. All three rows of them.

woohoo! look at that smokin’ 9:47 pace for mile six. you’re out of control, woman.

Whoa, whoa whoa. You use the term “normal” rather loosely here. I guess it’s all relative. But, if I’ve learned anything reading your blog, it’s that Runner Susan is far from normal. I know, I know, I’m a whack job too. But that’s alright. As long as you don’t know what I look like, we can still be friends.

At least you’re not bitter about the gifts your husband gave to your daughter.

You know, Suzie, YOU may have missed out on the Harrell bad teeth, but they do exist on our side of the family…

5 Susan February 7, 2006 at 7:44 pm

No Amy – those are just missing and rotten teeth . . .

I’m still interested in seeing what your HR is when you’re racing a 5k all out! I’m betting on numbers in the 200s! ;)

Great list of excuses for not running in Sunday’s post! Worse than having to put IKEA crap together is when they don’t even include the frigging hardware. This happened to me once with a purchase of some heavy shelving which gave rise to a pilgramage to the very end of the earth – Home Depot.

My cats James and Dolly (and me too) are happy that Rowdy is doing better.

Wowee. 172′s a pretty damn good heart rate :) What program do you use to get all those fancy graphs?

‘Tis a good thing you’re taking care of Kenza’s teeth now. They’ll be brilliantly white and straight when she grows up :D

Do you like training with a HR monitor? I think it would bug the crapola outta me. Regardless, way to keep it down and in check.

ahhhh that took me back tos cary nightmares of braces. Its hell – HELL – at the time… but just keep thinking “it will be worth it eventually” – it doesn’t help at all at the time but it is true in the end… *shudder*

and, thats cool about the heart rate stuff… i’ve always wanted to do some hardcore testing to compliment my rowing training, see if there was anything useful i could get to maximize the benefits of what i’m doing

good, the Bolder Boulder is coming soon.

we need to know that you will be race fit.

i had braces twice. as a dorkyass teen and as a pathetic adult. i heard you get the teeth of the parent of the opposite gender. and so far, all my fellow snaggle teeth had opposite sex parental units with snaggle teeth.

so… did the doctor measure your heart rate before, during or after porn? i’m glad you’re not going to be infarcting susan or angina susan… but both will make me giggle.

Glad you feel better about your heart rate. It is looking better. Keep at it and the heart rate will drop down over time with running.

Oh how I remember the spacer/braces day! My daughter now has the most beautiful smile and teeth so it’s worth it! (Got hers from her father also!) God, what is it with these guys, anyway? Maybe they have long lost relatives from Britain!

15 The Devil February 8, 2006 at 9:37 am

I didn’t cause her teeth to do that either. That really is entirely her dad and his Frenchified (freedomifried? hahahahaha) genes.

Congrats on the heart rate. (Damn that Highheartratezelbub for falling down on the job.)

poor kid! I hope the whole braces experience isn’t too painful!

17 KAP February 8, 2006 at 11:59 am

Oh memories of ortodontic torture…I too had my father’s farked teeth….and overbite to make a beaver proud.

Anyhow, way to go on the pace and what not. You are running, which is more than I can say for myself!

18 alejandra February 8, 2006 at 9:18 pm

oooh. i had spacers. braces. HEAD GEAR.

i feel her pain.

19 Weebs February 9, 2006 at 8:48 am

I’ve never seen blue spacers like that before. Is she going to have any expansion appliances? Or are the spacers just for creating space for the brackets only?

Been there with the braces kiddo! My daughter got my messed up teeth. Thankfully, my parents were nice enough to let me have braces. At the time,I hated them. lol
