I just typed a really long running post . . . but I lost it because of a stupid mistake . . . Arrrr! I must get ready for work, so here is the abbreviated post:
I don’t have a lot to report. My leg is still not 100%, but is feeling better thanks to Richard working his sport massage magic on it. I’m still not sure what the problem is . . . but, I haven’t run in three days to give my leg some time to heal. My way of saying I’m lazy. I plan to do a short run tomorrow then the half on Sunday – in the freezing rain. Go me – I’m super smart.

Non-running updates:
Rowdy is feeling better thanks to the dog food he absolutely hates – He is now acting like the metrosexual dog I know and love.
Kenza’s orthodontics is well underway. The morning headgear-hair is proving quite traumatic:

Not to worry, with a lot of hairspray and a little magic she was turned into this Valentine beauty for her party:

Which is a good thing because the boys out-number the girls 5 to 1 in Kenza’s class . . . she doesn’t seem to mind.
I was even a good mom and kept my mouth shut and didn’t start any fights with the other moms after finding out they were serving the kids Coke and Dr. Pepper (and a variety of other junk food) during the party.
i hope you’re saving those bedhead ones for a wedding montage.
in the other photo, she looks like mini-you. sooooo… now we know how you look in the am… were the grille of a car strapped across your face. poor thing. KENZA, advice from another only child,… YOU GET TO CHOOSE YOUR MOM’S NURSING HOME… keep that in mind as she blogs. will she get the one with cute male nurses or the one with that constant smell of urine and nurses with halitosis that makes the wallpaper curl?
Hope the leg gets better soon. Good luck for Sunday!
They allow parties at Kenza’s school?
I ain’t teached in no school that let’s you party.
You do know that Kenza is going to hate you endlessly for these pictures when she gets older, right? I still barely speak to my sister for the one of me in a pea-green tutu!
OOOOHHH I like Toast’s comment is scary…..and true…. I’m scared that my daughter will choose my nursing home….ugh. Sorry about your current injury. Richard was supposed to make it better – what’s going on Massoman????
Your daughter is a beauty. I think you are posting those bed head photos to keep the boys away – GREAT IDEA!
Oh and I forgot to add: good job on not telling any parents off at the party!
I hate it also when they serve my youngest junk food and soda’s. So many of the kids are on that stuff and they wonder why they are having weight issues. Fortunately my daughter tends not to eat the stuff but will go for the soda.
One day I hope they all realize water is just fine.
What kind of hairspray do u use to hide the headgear….amazing what technology can do nowadays..
love the new header..take care of your legs.. :).. i am glad they are getting closer ot 100%..
Glad to hear that you are resting and getting better, and that your dog is feeling better too! If anything happened to my crazy kittens I would be so sad. And I would also be mad if there was nothing but junkfood and soda too!
I would be mad if there was water and veggie platters at my elementary school valentines day party! Bring on the chocolate and root beer!!!
What a cutie! Yeah, she’s gonna try to get that picture from you before she’s married…my Mom had some OH SO GREAT pics of me in similar compromising positions. My husband got a kick outta it though…:) ha ha
Consider your lack of running lately a solid taper for the half this weekend. I know you can do it. Besides it will give you a reason to write a nice long running report with pictures of what you stuffed down your sports bra. And you know we all want to see and hear about that. I hope the legs feel better.
Fortunately our kids are quite good when it comes to junk food at parties, they usually give it a wide perth. It’s pointless trying to argue with other parents, so well done for not even trying.
Good luck for the half. Just turn up the volume on your nano to drown out the pain nd you’ll be ok.
kenza won’t be sitting home alone on prom night… no worries there… has her eye healed up yet?
are you still running that race this weekend?
inquiring minds want to know.
It’s been said before…but…wow your progeny looks strikingly similar to you. I mean, the headgear, the bedhead…wow!
Good luck at Austin!
And I’m glad Rowdy is well enough to be sassy.
Love the new track header!
Your poor daughter. I remember the days of head gear.
I think the best part of getting married was seeing all of my husband’s embarrassing childhood photos. His didn’t involve headgear, just a full Don Johnson inspired Miami Vice outfit, complete with 80’s hair. She’s beautiful, by the way. Good luck on Sunday!
Kenza is looking good! Thankfully she is getting the teeth fixed now and won’t go through junior high with a mouth full of metal like I did.
I don’t think sweets are that bad but they could have done juice or something slightly more healthy. When I was a kid we got to have like one cookie or cupcake (sometimes two if there were two different kinds of treats). Overeating of the sweets was not encouraged.
She must get those good looks from her mother. 🙂
Glad to hear that your leg is feeling better. Hopefully, it’ll be back to 100% in no time!
OMG!! Head gear hasn’t changed since I was a kid! She still is quite the beauty! Enjoy it now!!
Good luck on Sunday and yaaaaay for Rowdy feeling better!
omg she’s going to hate you in 15 years in that way that only daughters can hate their mothers, but love them, but hate them, but love them, but hate them, but love them…
i think you get it.
man thats awesome.
Yup, my girls really really really looked forward to their valentines party at school, not for the valentines, but because it’s one of only two or three times a year that the school allows CANDY! Big candy exchange-fest all day.
That daughter of yours is simply breathtaking…look out teenage boys.
Hey, gotta start those eating habits early! sigh.
Glad everyone seems to be on the mend. Happy running! Love the new header~! 🙂
How’s the leg – worked out what’s wrong with it? And are you still running the half marathon?
I posted a monster exciting, witty comment but lost it before hitting “post”
Aww! Your daughter’s so pretty (just like her mother!) even with that “head-gear hair”. Only some people can pull that off! Hee hee.
Bad parents! for bringing in fizzy sugar drinks.
Kenza will love you later for fixing the teeth now. I’m glad she tolerates the candid look when her mom has a camera.
Do I sense a degree of jealousy in your observation of the ratio of boys to girls in her class? Hmmm.
What a cutie Kenza is! She takes after her mama, for sure!
wow! is that the same kid!?!
she’s so pretty, and yeah, you gotta save that headgear pic 🙂
