Not quite as satisfying as the Big O Full – but it was hard, hilly and hot. So it’s okay – it is training season so it is okay – right?
There was a tired Susan at the start line thanks to my husband snoring and my fear of oversleeping because of the time change. The traffic and parking at the race were terrible and in my rush I accidentally left my banana in the car. I arrived at the start line with ten minutes to spare and on an empty stomach. Not such a great start. I was also completly surprised by the nearly 90 degree temperature and the monstrous hills. Miles 1 – 4 were awesome in the low 9’s then I lost a lot of steam – need to work on pacing. Average pace 10:36 per mile – due a lot to walking most of mile 8.
I’ve been training so very hard and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed in my time: 2:19:28 – fifteen minutes slower than my PR from last December. I learned a lot if anything.
