Tuesday
I made it to the gym to do my first ever fartlek run since high school. 30 min of 2×1 with a 5 min warm up and cool down.
Wednesday
Did yoga in the morning to discover that I have the tightest hamstrings in the entire world. Decided to do some cross-training at the mall only to discover that I am the victim of identity theft. My check visa card number was stolen and someone in Florida spent nearly $3,000.00 in less than an hour out of my checking account. THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. $877 at a Winn-Dixie, $830 at Home Depot and the list goes on. Who the hell spends that much money at the grocery!! Someone with a stolen card I reckon. No need for me to explain how upset I am about this. That’s 20 less pairs of shoes for Shopper Susan until I get this situation corrected. This would be much easier if it were a credit card and not my visa check card!
Thursday
Kicked some serious ass during a tempo run – 5 miles in 47:33. Mile 4 was 9:02 and Mile 5 was 9:00. Ran at 5AM with Karrie, Richard and his bw runner Diane! Everyone had a great run. It’s nice to have a group again.
Friday
Today will be a cross-training day – I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do yet – but it will involve me spending a lot of time at the bank. ugh.
I’m planning my last 20 mile run on Monday. YAY!
Identity theft sucks!! I had my card stolen before (well, actually I left in an ATM, but whatever) and someone spent $400 at Kmart and $80 at a gas station. I eventually got all the money back, though, so I guess it is a happy ending. I can’t believe it was $3000, though. That is crazy.
argh! i can’t believe that happened. i mean…i can…it just sucks. I hope you get it worked out soon.
Isn’t the visa check card the one with all the commercials about how there’s no worries if your card gets stolen?
Hopefully that was not false advertising.
Good luck.
I hate check/Visa cards. For years I had no CC logo on my ATM card just because they are so easy to abuse. I’ll bet that Winn Dixie and Home Depot both have self-serve checkout where no one will check the ID on the card. Great.
I hope you get that straightened out really soon!
Try swimming for cross training. It’s the best because you get to work your muscles without putting any weight related stress on them.
Ditto those identity-theft thoughts.
There is only one Runner Susan in the world – who the hell thinks they can try to be her!
It’s nice to get a running group again – I’m happy for you.
Susan I am so sorry to hear about your identity theft, that seriously sucks. Good luck sorting it out.
whoa. thats some smokin fast running! suuuper sorry to hear about id theft.
maybe you could have your own commercial where the theives voice is dubbed over?!! that could be fun!!
(ya know.. gotta find the silver lining!)
That’s awful about your check card, Susan. Hope you get everything straightened out easily.
Good luck in you 20 miles coming up!!
so sorry! This is no good. My husband always tells me I shouldn’t be using my bank card because of this very reason but I use it all the time.
I hope you get it all worked out!
I’m sorry to hear about the identity theft. I hope that gets cleared up quickly and without too much grief. Nice job on the tempo run.
So positive…have your credit card stolen and then kick ass on a fartlek run th enext day. Good stuff.. i hope all this identity theft mess sort out quickly.
Yoga is the most painful thing in the world. I cry whenever I do yoga 🙁
That is terrible! I’m with you – I can’t think of how anyone could spend that much money at the grocery store. Maybe they bought a side of beef.
And how awful to have to spend a day at the bank dealing with it.
On the plus side – maybe anger and frustration fueled some of that fast running! It’s also great you’ve got a group back together. Have fun!
That’s so scary that someone can get such easy access to your checking account. It’s good you’re not working so you can take care of it without having to juggle time away from work. Good luck with your 20 miler on Monday.
Identity theft is a huge fear of mine. Good luck. Dealing with this kind of stuff will drive you nuts!! And what a waste of a day, or maybe more. Just hope all they have access to is your card. You may want to keep a close eye on your credit report.
Identity theft sucks – they need to get a job and spend their own money. I can’t imagine how upset you must be. Sorry for the losers out there that do this.
Great tempo run!
So, what does a “Winn-Dixie” sell exactly?
how did it happen?
i hate to think of how much i would lose.
Sorry to hear about the check card. Too bad you couldn’t plan on having your check card stolen the day before your next marathon. Based on the way your tempo went, you would PR for sure in the marathon.
Can you blame someone for wanting to be you?
Seriously…THAT SUCKS. I hope karma kicks that idiot in the ass, and soon. You’re handling this well. If it were me, I might have to chance my marathon to a literal cross-country run to Florida to do the ass-kicking, myself.
Best of luck to you on recovering your moolah and your last (yay!) big training run!
So…three of the four days were good?
Really, I’m sorry to hear about the ID theft. It happened to my wife once. Luckily they seem to get noticed pretty quickly. Good luck straightening it out.
glad your training is going well, and good luck on the 20 miler!
two days before the Pemberton 50k, once we already in Phoenix, we found out that someone stole my hubby’s visa check card numbers and pin and had withdrawn $600 from our account, leaving us no money to get home. at least it was only $600!!! hope your situation resolves quickly.
Bummer, about the identity theft. Thankfully I’ve not had this happen to me. Yet. Keep up the running.
what a pain in the butt. I worry about that all the time….keep us posted. and way to go on that run. Woooooooosh!
What a pain. You would think that someone at Winn Dixie would notice when a person spends $800 at the grocery and take note. I hope you get it all sorted out.
dude, i am so sorry! and how does someone spend nearly $900 at winn-dixie? is that even possible?!
keep us updated. hope everything is okay.
that SUCKS! I am so sorry that happened. Think they can track the SOB down? Have fun on your Monday long run…
That’s $3,000 of angry to fuel your next runs!!!!!!
(I was going to say “anger” but I kinda like “angry” instead)
I hope they post a good reward for the return of your identity Susan. Your blog wouldn’t be the same without it.
It wasn’t me!!! I shop at Publix.
Does chasing after evil identity theives count as cross-training?
Ugh. Hope you get it all sorted out and the money back pronto. Unbelievable what some people will sink to.
How a Visa can change 2 lives: yours and the grocery owner’s one!
Susan, much like others, I hope it turns out well. I had some stolen also but in 48 hrs I had it all but $50 returned to my account. They are required by law to return the funds if you report it but your financial instutition can vary on how long it chooses to react to it.
The real loser will be the stores, they get nothing. On your Credit cards always write photo ID required instead of signature.
Good luck and hope the runs go well.
oh man… one thing i love about Australia is that they always check your signature. okay, could be forged, but at least it’s one extra step.
god… and i hate telling you this, but you jus tknow that anyone who buys 800+ dollaridoos at winn dixie makes casseroles with too much mayo. they used your money to make mayo-rich caseroles with ruffles as a key ingredient.
i believe these things work out for you as ID theft is no longer new…. but if you do get hauled into some redneck florida jail for not paying your bill at Rifles R Us, mark and i will visit you often.
ID theft is one of major fears…really sorry to hear about that..hopefully you get it sorted out real soon!
You’re lucky he didn’t go the the neighbourhood bike shop and walk off with a $10,000 Tri Bike. 🙂
I bet my hammys are tighter than yours!
Sucks to hear about your ID theft. And that especially sucks that it’s your check card. Do you think you’ll be on the hook for it? 🙁
Oh quit whining about the ID theft – you deserved it.
I’m kidding. That really sucks, but 36 people already said that, so…
I hope you have a sweet 20 milers today. Enjoy the taper.

$3,000! That is some shopping damage! So sorry to hear about that! I am sure it is aggravating! Good thing you found out though!
BTW, Great tempo runs!
Nice to read you’re track with your training..
Ugh! ID theft sucks A$$! Happened to my best friend, someone broke into their house & stole their bank stmts, jewelery, etc. Her and her hubby are still working on straightening things out, 6 mths after.
That’s a serious bummer with the visa card. Same thing happened to us a few years ago in London, they took about GBP 1500 before we managed to stop them (about $2500), but luckily our bank picked up the tab.
Argh! Sorry to hear about the identity theft! I had a check stolen last year, and it was a nightmare! The person actually went to the trouble of having fake checks made, and a DRIVERS LICENSE made of me, and of course they were cashing checks at home depot, lowes, walmart, stores like that. What a nightmare. At least you caught it now, instead of like 5 months from now! Criminals suck.
