Thursday was 3 miles of running then 8 laps in the pool with Karrie – who just finished her first tri last weekend btw. Friday was bleacher day, and again I doubled my workout and ran bleachers for one mile. Saturday I gallowayed around for 45 minutes, then swam for 45 min. This morning was a seven-mile run on the Rail Trail with Richard and BW. Later this afternoon I have plans for another 45 minutes of swimming. Let me repeat what everyone else has already said a million times – It’s stinking hot outside. The heat sinks the fatigue in twice as fast. So this morning I took some of my new Accelerade with me and was pleasantly surprised. I used to train with Gatorade because that is what most races stock – but Gatorade kills my stomach. Since I stopped using it I’ve felt much better and had fewer steamy pits stops. Seriously people, Accelerade is some good stuff – even if it has 240 calories per scoop, It’s worth every calorie.
So what’s with all the swimming? It’s Bolder’s fault. He says swimming will make Tanita love me again. And I’m all about the love – so swimming it is. I’m sure Bold has no underlying brilliant fat-burning scheme to try and get me to post before and after pictures in a bathing suit. Cause it ain’t happening. And if I don’t lose weight, I get to blame him – because, of course, it can’t be my fault.
So let’s get intimate with the swimming. It’s hard, and not just because you have to be seen publicly in a bathing suit. The cap is difficult to put on and it hurts my hair. Breathing underwater results in a lot of choking. I am paranoid some kids lost band-aid is going to float into my mouth. And for some reason, I am incapable of breathing and keeping my eyes open at the same time – which results in me accidentally swimming into someone else’s lane. Seriously swimmers, is it that big of a deal if I bump into you a little? I bump into runners all the time and no one ever goes psycho-grumpy on me.
