What a great discovery because cutting down to 2 avocados a week is easy, non?
I remember those Angie Dickinson ads for avocados that said “only 25 calories in a slice!” but never defined how big that slice was. If you looked at the picture you could estimate that the 25 calorie slice was about 1/12th of an avocado.
However – they are good for you in moderation so keep up the good work – just not so much of it.
Maybe, but Avocados have a lot of good kind of fat. Try to distinguish between the bad fat (saturated, animal products, ect.) from the good fat like omega 3’s and other essential fatty acids. Alot of people actually are deficient in these kinds of fats. Of course, I could just be biased as I LOVE avocados….
I’ve also heard that they are good fat. However, most of these people are very healthy eaters. I don’t think it counts as healthy fat if you eat along with a cheeseburger and fries. Love the new header. Someday I have to figure out how to make a good header. Not great like yours, just okay would be an improvment. Train hard!!!
Susan,
I have decided that you have to be one of the funniest people I know. I think the people that comment on your blog are the second funniest people I know. Who knew? When I see you people running at all times of the day and in all kinds of weather you all just look kind of pissed off! Boy, was I fooled. Ya’ll are all a bunch of comedians. You should start a club or something. Thanks to you all for making me laugh! I needed it. I really sound like a redneck as I read this back to myself!! (ya’ll, you all)
If you had only told us …. my fox terrier gained 3-4 pounds one year when our avacado tree was so loaded with them that she ate the low hanging fruit (literally) non-stop. That’s 4 pounds on a 21 pound dog.

Susan, like most things it requires moderation. Remember if you decrease your calories you also decrease your metabolism.
Using beer and chocolate counter acts the avacado also.
Indeed, avocados have the good kind of fats, but it’s fat none the less. Lots of calories per gram.
Keep it going with the diet. It’s always frustrating when things don’t move quite along as quickly as we’d like. But eventually, if you keep treating your body right, it will respond favorably!

At least your gain is from healthy fats. I can’t say the same.
the new header is great. I’m with angie and spandexking, and all those other people who said avaocados are good fat. just don’t buy them (or eat them) by the six pack.
Wow, I wish avacados were where my excess dietary fat was coming from! But, unfortunately for me, it’s usually muffins like the one I just ate. 🙂
I did your BMR just for fun (that’s what dietitians do for fun didn’t you know?), using the Harris Benedict Equation and it’s 1380 kcal/day. You might have already calculated that before but, if not, it’s a good number to keep in your head. Keep up the grat work! You’re doing super with tracking your food!
When I was a kid, growing up in Southern California where there were avocados seemingly everywhere, I used to eat them sprinkled with sugar. Fat and sugar = kiddie heaven.
Those damn things!
Nice header!
…but they’re so yummy.
Green, gushy, yummy goodness. I need some guac!

i’ve always thought avocados looked suspicious, like green emmissaries of satan.
now — confirmed!
They’re hard to resist, those avocados! Especially in summer-I think I could eat 6 in one day, but then again I’m pregnant.
Those bastards! Tell’em the need to run before you eat them!
Avocados barely have any taste, but they’re so good for some reason.
Aren’t they the “good” fat?

One of my favourite salads is spinach, bacon and avocade … I think I’m being healthy since it’s a salad, but really I should just have a big mac!
ekk! I didn’t realize that they contained that much fat! On another note altogether – LOVE THE HEADER!
Yeah – I’m with Spandex – it’s “Good Fat”…
Oh, and re:Ali’s sandwich – aren’t those called BL&T&A?
They are the only green things (apart from spinach) that taste any good. 6 in one week though? Must be avocado season or something is it?

Yeah, I could have told you that. But aren’t they also “good fat” if you eat them raw and not mixed with sour cream and other goodies?
Avocados are the “good” kind of fat…just try not to eat so many of them at once! (Quit shopping for avocados at Costco!!!)
but that’s the fat we’re *supposed* to eat. well, maybe not so many at a time. but still.
(always love your headers – how do you get them to go across the entire top of the blog like that???)
New header again. Sigh.
Ok, I bet those were from Mexico, I miss them so much. It is possible to live with out them, trust me.
Great header. If your only vice is avacodos, your not doing too bad. Eat up, they’ll be out of season soon enough.

you ran well today.

Argh..how can u eat that stuff.so slimey.
What kind of fat does avacado has..good fat (omega 3) or bad fat (saturated fat)?
Suddenly, I have a hankerin for some avocadoes on my sandwich today at lunch….thanks for the idea. 😀
Sam
Btw…keep up the great work.
Ok..I am REALLY guilty of eating a WHOLE bowl of guac in ONE sitting. But I love the taste and how the “heat” cleans out my sinuses. LOL!
When I was a kid, growing up in Southern California where there were avocados seemingly everywhere, I used to eat them sprinkled with sugar. Fat and sugar = kiddie heaven.
I love avocados. And aren’t they full of the good fats?
You got 32 comments for those 6 avocados, that sounds pretty good to me!
