The 400m dash was my specialty; I also ran in the 1600m relay and occasionally the 100m and 200m dash. Here and there I held various records in each, which have long since vanished. It seems like it’s been since high school since I’ve run and I wonder if my desire to train for another marathon has gone as well.
However, I am glad my desire for spiral perming has vanished.

These old pictures are fun. It’s also neat see that we could easily have gone to the same highschool. That era is so easy to identify with.
Oh, and I would have totally tried to date you.
Well one thing hasn’t changed….the LEGS.
Cha-ching.

your comment box hates me! I swear I don’t like to repeat myself
Great pic Susan …
I was a 400m girl as well! I did the open 400, the medly relay and the 1600m relay. it’s a great distance and the most exciting in the Track and Field in my opinion. I never quite set a record, but I did go to the state compition for the open 400….which was fun!
Clearly that is before you moved to TX or you would not have had on a sweatshirt but a sweaty shirt.
You look great, as always!
a high school hottie!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice legs!
i was a 400, 800, & 1600 myself. but i was not hot. sigh.
now i have the tunes from 16 candles going through my mind.
I was going to run on the indoor track team during college, but everything fell through – mostly because I chose to not to go that college. Great picture!
Great pic !! Please post more retro runner susan pics !
I was a champion at the 400. The 400lb sumo category, that is.
How many guys did you beat? No doubt they would have stopped to have a good look.
The “Retro” posts are funny. I’m laughing just scrolling through them all.
What a BABE!
My mum was a track athelete too. But she’s given her all for the family and continues to neglect herself until today.
Very sad really…
Oh and guys de-crap their bags too. I do my computer bag once in a few months and it is amazing what I find sometimes. At least you did not find packets of ketchup in your bags… I did in mine.
Old Fotos – What Fun!
I did track in HS too… 800, 1500 and occasionally the 3000 (which I hated!).
To think what we could have done then had we had the drive & perserverance we have now?!
Wow – what a hottie! I would have been totally intimidated to talk to you when I was 16.
I was a distance runner and high jumper. I still can’t believe I used to jump my own height – 5’3″ and now I can barely jump 3″…lol Heck I ain’t fast at those long runs any more either. I have the ribbons and trophies but lost the speed somewhere along the way. Too bad we can’t dig out are talents as easily as we can dig out the ole photos.
I know you’re married and all, but, um, will you go to the prom with me?
If you sprinted, you’ve got talent for running Susan. It’s still there.
Nice grass. It’s begging to be run on!
Wow. Um. Hot?
Whoa! hot stuff!
Great pic! I never ran track in HS, but I can definitely relate to the spiral perms! It’s a wonder that my hair never fell out…all that perm solution and aquanet. I was a walking fire hazard!
Love the hair! It would have been nice to run with you in high school. We could have egged each other on to faster times.
I’m trying to do some blog catch up reading. Please excuse my tardy comment:
I love your photo. I ran track and cross-country in HS too. I did the mile, 2-mile, and (occaisionally) the medley relay.
