Believe it or not, I ran today. It’s been almost 2 weeks and, even though it was slow, it was wonderful. It was sunny and beautiful, 49 degrees with no wind. Perfect for the easy 5 miles this Cindy and I enjoyed this morning.
I love running but, for some reason, I just haven’t had too much desire to do it lately. And by lately I mean the last six months. Yes, we have lots going with the house building and moving coming up soon, but I shouldn’t use that as an excuse to not run.
If I have made a commitment to run with someone, I’ll show up. And enjoy myself. Why is it when it’s just me I come up with a million excuses to not run? It’s not like it’s any harder. I might as well just eat an entire bag of Doritos, because all those 7 pounds I lost are going to start pouring back on if I don’t get my legs moving.
EDIT**
So the night before the run, Cindy and I enjoyed a few flights of wine. I’m quite certain things like this have nothing to do with my motivation. Really.
I have the same problem. My midweek runs tend to get blown off. Fortunately, I belong to a local running club and if I don’t have a race planned, I have a group run every weekend. I still bag it if the weather is bad. Does this mean I’m not a dedicated runner?
Suz,
Is it just me or do those wine glasses look really big? Does that one on the far right have “dirt” floating in it? I swear I see dirt in it.
Step away from the Doritos. Do not pick up the Doritos.
You worked your butt off (literally, I suppose) to lose those 7 pounds! You’ve only got 12.6 more to go, according to your Traineo thingie.
As a total stranger, I feel it’s my duty to tell you how to run your life. Sure, you can have wine. But not unless you’re running off at least as many calories as you’re sipping (glugging?). If you want to lose weight, you need to adjust accordingly. Once you start running regularly again, just think of how many Doritos you’ll be free to scarf.
But first, you need to lose 12.6 pounds. Are you ready? I said, are you ready?
I can’t hear you…
nice run.
i find that running comes and goes and comes back again. we all need a break. we have other things, like family and ourselfs to take care of. it happens.
later.
As long as it is wonderful running, that’s enough.
49 degrees? You must already be getting the cool front that is supposed to be down here in Houston in a couple of days. That means my outdoor morning swim at the YMCA is going to get pretty perky here. Speaking of Houston, did you read about astronaut Sunita Williams with NASA who is going to run the Boston Marathon while on the Space Station? She is my “Runner of the Week” on the Faithful Soles web site if you want to read about what she is doing. I also put a link on there to the NASA press release.
That looks like much more fun than running! But good for you anyway……
I know what you mean – running’s just been on the back burner the past few months. I think the thought of running long distances might be off-putting. Maybe try something new – like run no more than 5K each time, or do a maximum of 2 hours of running a week, or see how many 200m sprints you can do within a certain 30 min session – something like that. And hey, don’t you have that “Knollie Witch project” space to run in? Determine a set distance and place cones (or wine glasses) at each end, then bring them from one to the other. Forgot about the miles run, the minutes per mile, all that Garmaniac data for a while.
Wine=fun…running=work…:-))
lets do 3 in the morning at 5am? from downing?
yeah, sonoma grill. everything is good there.

That’s hilarious about the tampons. We we moved Kevin made be throw out no fewer than 9 boxes of them. I fought to keep a few (you never know) but seeing as how I was knocked up, that wouldn’t have come in that handy. Unless you had a really bad nose bleed.
Wait, there’s still wine in all of those glasses. Please tell me you did drink all the wine…I hate to see good wine go to waste. Wait, I hate to see any form of alcohol go to waste.
Hey now you look like my sort of runner – I do like to see an athelet with a glass in his/her hand!.
I’ve found that Leffe beer goes down a treat for rehydrating.
But keep up the wine drinking.
And keep on tapering.
Ron
