Yesterday, I took about a 30 second rest between 400s with no warm up. Here’s how the speed work do-over went today:
Lap 1 – walk
Lap 2 – 1:43
Lap 3 – walk
Lap 4 – 1:39
Lap 5 – walk
Lap 6 – 1:48
Lap 7 – walk
Lap 8 – 2:01
Lap 9 – walk
That’s a total of 2.25 miles in 25 minutes. The last 2 laps – Cindy totally kicked my butt. We followed the speed work with a little lower back strengthening workout and ab work. Tomorrow is five miles on the trails behind the Y.
1:39!!!? That’s speedy. I tried seven times on Tuesday and couldn’t drop it below 1:40.
You’re endurance will return in a week or three so you can keep the repeat times all close.
yeah, that’s okay. i think next time you should try
lap 1 shimmie
lap 2 1:40-1:45
lap 3 chassé
lap 4 1:40-1:45
lap 5 coffee grinder, fan kick fan kick
lap 6 1:40-1:45
lap 7 repeat 1:40-1:45 and then wait for it
lap 8 barrel jump hitch kick, fall over log and sissonne fall!
I am feeling pretty in shape and I couldn’t catch some of those times! I’m impressed… plus I hate speedwork. 🙂 Also, I’ve been tagged for a “one word answer” blog entry… If you have time and don’t mind: I’ve tagged you. 🙂
Susan,
You totally rocked yesterday! This marathon trainin’ is fun!
Susan! You are fast! I mean, 1:36 is 40 minute 10k pace, so you have more than enough speed to run a good marathon. I’m impressed – keep it up.
Katy, stop being silly. It’s you who are sad!
