Quickly, NYCM training Days 6, 7 and 8

Okay, so technically this is NYCM PRE-training, since official training doesn’t start for a few more weeks, but I’m counting it anyway.

On Tuesday I lifted with Cindy. We did upper, lower and abs. Including squats, which I love.

On Wednesday I ran 3.5 very slow miles.

And today I ran 7.033 miles at 10:39 pace. Which is slow, but kinda fast for what I’ve been attempting lately. I think I might need to work a little on my endurance before I add in the speedwork. We’ll see.

Gotta go and build my ark now, before my house floats away. More with substance later.

If you don’t mind me asking, what does your average speed workout look like? I’ve always steered away from it to avoid an increased chance of injury, but these summer months limit my longer runs so I’m thinking of giving it a shot. Thanks!

Good on you to run 7 miles. Try swimming in the backyard as an alternative?

Sounds like now is a good time to get in some aqua jogging in Texas. No need for a pool. Just walk right out your front door. I hope you’re able to stay dry and the house is still in tact.

Ummmm 7 miles at 10:39 pace is slow… OK. Going back out again to improve ;-) LOL. Keep at it Susan. Stay dry!!

That’s a good pace, Susan. You’re doing well with your pre training runs – and they ALL count! Oh yeah, your husband HAS to run with you! Or he can listen to Lance Armstrong when he says that the marathon was the toughest thing he’s ever done. .. . hmmmmm. . .

I hear ya on the long runs. I, too, am trying to build back my endurance. Tres dificile, if I may say so. But it’s about the journey, right, not the destination?!

Good for you keeping up with your training with all that messy weather. I use any excuse to stay undercover!

I’ve figured that out – about 6:30 kilometres. That’s all you need to build endurance Susan. Just need to do a lot of them.

Hope Donkey enjoys the ark.

Katy… really! I don’t need to be thinking about your clacker over dessert.
