NYCM Training Days 9, 10, 11, and 12

This week was a draining week of training, I felt fatigued on all of my runs. I ran 3-miles on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – all very slow. I’m not exactly sure why I’m so tired, but I’m going to blame the mosquitoes – because it certainly couldn’t be the almost 3 month hiatus I took from running. Anyhow, I’ve tried everything, but nothing keeps the blasted bloodsuckers away from me. I get about 700 bites on every run and the constant itchiness makes me want to rip my legs off.

Today, my mosquito-pimpled legs and I ran 8.45-miles. I opted for a 10/2 run/walk – it slowed me down quite a bit, but it got me through the workout feeling stronger than the other runs this week, even though it was pretty darn hot and humid. And sunny – got to love that part.

Plus, the mosquitoes have to be draining your blood supply – how can one be expected to be fast without blood?

The mosquito theory seems logical to me, plus the bumps will make you less aerodynamic!

No joke, im in east dallas and mesquitoes are killing me too. Maybe i should blame my poor performances on that too, haha!

Yes! Blame it on blood loss! I hear the mosquitoes in Texas are like little zippy fighter planes, while the ones in Minnesota are like B-52s :-)

Susan, you forgot the Aeroguard! I remember the snow mosquitoes at Crater Lake – almost as bad as the ones up in Queensland.

Summer is here! Heat, humidity, sunshine and mosquitos…gotta love it. Okay, well maybe not love it, but we have to live with it.

You are still kicking butt in my opinion. :)

Mosquitos breed where there is standing water. I suggest staying away from standing water. You don’t have any standing water in Dallas do you? Maybe move to the desert for a month.

Maybe I have a bad memory, but it’s been a long time since I remember reading about you running that far. Nice job!

At least you have bugs to blame. I have only laziness and extra weight. Sure hope all this shit with the new home clears up soon. I think your running will improve when it does.

After that one morning last week when I was attacked by a swarm of brainless famished mosquitoes, I haven’t had a single problem since. And I must have run at least twice since then!
