Saturday morning started off early when Marta and I headed out to watch some of the U.S. Men’s Marathon Olympic Qualifying Race with RBF David in Central Park. After about 30 phone calls we finally found David – he was hiding at the gated finish line, like he was special or something. Marta and I tried to get in but we the secret service agents turned us away. Anyway, Marta got to molest Clint a little, so it was all good. I’m not sure but I think she might have slept with that sign too. From the sidelines we got to see the runners go by, they were so fast I had a hard time taking pictures. I didn’t hear about Ryan Shay until later, how very unexpected and tragic his death was.
After quite a bit of walking, we made it to Otto Pizzeria in Greenwich Village for our quaint RBF met up with David and the adorable Mrs. T. It was a little wine, a lot of fun and David and I were able to plot our indestructible 4:45 marathon finish plan. I was also able to remind him of the official “no double chin” RBF photo posting rules. Hey, I don’t make the rules, but we all have to follow them.
Amy, Marta, Linda, and I then proceeded to walk three hours through Washington Park, where we got to witness a Green Day demonstration, and shop in Soho and Chinatown. I didn’t realize it until it was too late, but I was completely whipped by the time we got back to the hotel. Here’s a picture of Amy and I trying to ruin her husband Doug’s political career.
Just kidding, he’s a Green guy with a good sense of humor, although I think I’ve scared him from reading my blog with all the posts about my girlie parts.
Day 2 continued after lunch.
watching the trials must have been amazing. I can’t wait to see the womens trials in April.
Marta and Clint. What a combo. That all nighter with Clint’s stick face probably cost her the sub-4 hour marathon.
Those are some decent shots of the qualifiers racing. You got Hall, Ritz, Browne and Meb in the first one. Two former Olympians and two new ones.
What double chin?
