Sister Runner Amy and I have agreed to the Januaryathon Contest 2008. Some people spell it January-a-thon, either way is okay with me, but sometimes the hyphens hurt my fingers.
Official rules:
- Participants must run every day in January.
- Runs must be a minimum of 1 mile daily.
- No daily or weekly maximums.
- Weekly minimum of 10 miles.
Exceptions can only be made for illnesses (self or children.)
The sister who runs the most miles, and everyday, in January gets bragging rights and the ability to taunt the other sister. Relentlessly. In an attempt to get Amy to run a full marathon, I suggested that one sister picks a race and the other has to run it. She would not agree to a full marathon, so we agreed that if I win, Amy would run White Rock again and if I lose, I’ll run the IU Mini with her. Although, I may still get a full marathon agreement in by the end of the month, we’ll see.
Happy New year!! what a great plan. Goodluck.
Sounds like a great plan. I can’t wait to see what unfolds on 2/1.
I witnessed Suz’s running this morning AND she did an awesome job at booty camp PRIOR to the run. I think that should count for extra credit or something!
Good luck, who issued the challenge?
What a great plan Susan! I think that you can get a marathon out of her yet!
Darn you people and your nasty little Monthathons. I have kept my secret desire to try one of these, well, secret for quite some time. What better time than the beginning of the year? Good luck. And because your sister’s blog is secret she’ll get less luck and you’ll win!
You’re good at bragging and taunting – you should win.
damn is right. now i feel compelled to at least TRY this. i like the one mile a day plan, 3 miles long run.
🙂
sounds like a great plan!
Wow! That’s SO tempting!
Okay, so why is my blog secret?
Suzie gets no credit for running after a workout. If anything, I think I should get credit because I run in Indiana and she runs in Texas. Today it was 28 degrees and alternating between freezing rain and snow when I was running. With wind gusts.
my half-iron training begins today, so i shant be able to participate. have fun though. and happy new year!!!
Amy may run daily at a disadvantage due to weather but she’ll be more fit for the race she won’t have to run.
Susan will succumb to one too many martinis, shoe sales, margaritas, pecan pies or boot specials at Nordstrom’s.
Bet on Indiana. It’s that midwest detremination that’ll win.
(Susan, did that fire you up enough?)
And I won’t changing my mind about the marathon at the end of the month. I’m willing to take odds on that bet.
You’re smart Amy!
I’ll have a six-pack on SusUn.
oh, and sisters never fib to out do the other? as if i wasn’t observant as a child. pah!
Smack talk within the comment section…this is going to be a great year!!!
OK I think the gravatar thingee worked.
As far as January-a-thon, no can do. I dont see myself running for 2 days after the Houston 1/2 here in 10 days!! Plus I am not supposed to run the 2 days prior!
Happy New Year Susan!
