One week in pictures

On New Year’s Eve I was lying on the couch watching BBC’s You are What You Eat, because that’s what losers do on New Year’s Eve, and I decided to take a picture of everything I ate for one week. Here’s my food from January 1 – 6. It’s everything I put in my mouth with the exception of the water I drank. Also, it’s in no particular order. Fire away, tell me what you think. (that last blurry thing is halibut over pasta)

Not bad. There were actual meals with various food groups. I’d hate to see what mine would look like — let’s see Hershey Kissables, fast food, way too many Diet Cokes…well, you get the idea. Maybe I should try it too. It might make me think twice about what I eat if I saw it all laid out in front of me. Thanks for the idea.

You eat just like me which is to say we eat way, way, way too many carbs. Sorry darling – but there’s too much bread, ceral and pasta in the mix. On my list you could add ‘rice’ but it doesn’t look like you eat rice.

It hurts, doesn’t it? And the other thing I have to say is that thing about apple slices canceling out cake? Total myth.

I’M SORRY! Really sorry because I love my carbs – a lot.

I want to know what the thing between the Diet Coke and the Bleu Cheese Wedge Salad is? Did you eat a tea light candle?

it’s the light reflecting in a cup of coffee – i don’t eat candles.

First, let me say that if I did this, people would be horrified, LOL! I eat a lot of junk food like candy, gum, etc. I also have a handful of chips most nights along with my dinner, which usually consists of a frozen Jamaican beef patty or a frozen french bread pizza. Umm, ya.

But I did just buy the Abs Diet book and the Eat Clean cookbook. Ahem.

Anyway, the one thing that strikes me is that you eat out at restaurants a lot!!!

I have said this before and will say it again. I think the liquids play a BIG role in your diet. I am seeing at least four goblet looking glasses of wine. I am also seeing way too much eating out at restaurant type foods and lots of carbs. The reason I recognize this so closely is that with the exception of the wine I have had that same diet lately. We can’t eat like that Suz! It catches up to us and stays on our booties! We will work on it more this week.

I am trying to cut back on carbs. Which makes me mad, so snack to feel better.

I’m impressed that so much of your food is actually plated, did you do that just for the camera or do you always make your food look pretty?

The only observation that I can offer up is that it looks like you eat out a lot. Which is normally a diet killer. The portions don’t look crazy though. I hope you drank more water than what you photographed. I don’t know why you obsess you look hot!

I am impressed…I think you eat well. My pix would consist of a lot of snacks and a LOT more carbs. Carbs are good if you are training heavily. I couldn’t get enough calories if I didn’t stuff in lots of pasta and bread and such…
And the wine- a necessary form of fluid intake my dear. Don’t listen to any one else. I am the elder and I know… :-)

wow! what a good idea!! Has it helped control intake at all?? I might have to try it…although being a college student mine would prob be ramen noodles in every pic! haha

You need more fruit. Mangoes, plums, peaches, oranges, bananas…

You said 56?!! That was not for 400m. I need 2:56 for 800m, so ‘only’ 88 for 400.

You eat a lot of processed, fiber deficient foods. For the amount of running you do, your diet should be 60% carbohydrates with the majority being complex carbs. In addition, you need to triple your fruits and vegetables. Also, I would significantly decrease the amount of saturated fat you are ingesting.
You are a beautiful woman who trains hard and if you ate closer to these suggestions, you will be a stronger runner and your metabolism will be a MACHINE.

i’m in… this was a great idea! it looks really cool, can I ask how you made it all one photo? oh! you know what would be really cool? if you did it for a year, and then made a mosiac picture of you. i think this comment might make me sound like spam. but i’m not spam!

Love this idea. Mine would be several different colors of M&M’s, along with some Diet Pepsi Max and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter. I can go you one better though. A nitwit I know has taken a photo of every meal he’s had for more than 10 years. For real.
