Changes

in Another Diet

Hello. My name is Susan, and I’m a carboholic. It’s been 2 hours, 3 minutes and 49 seconds since my last bowl of pasta.

Yeah, I got some changes to make. I’m working on a new and improved diet nutrition plan, doing some grocery shopping and next week I’m going to take pictures of my food again.

Of course, the biggest change is going to be not having pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The next big change will be not eating out 4 or 5 times a week. Michael and I don’t travel a lot or take elaborate vacations; our entertainment is dining out and drinking wine.

And speaking of adult beverages, I drink about 4 or 5 glasses of red wine a week. That’s an easy fix; I’ll have 1 or 2 on date night only. And diet coke? Done. Gone. But the coffee? No way! No one is touching my coffee. I’d promise seriously naughty things to the person who kidnapped my coffee.

I also need to learn how to cook protein things other than chicken breast. I get so tired of chicken. Chickens are gross. Any animal that can live with its head cut off doesn’t deserve my constant digestion. Give me a slab of bacon over a chicken breast any day. How does sushi rank on healthy food scale? We are leaving for some delicious raw fish very soon, and I’d like to know that some tasty food could remain in my diet.

I saw this on Dooce today and it pretty much sums up how I feel about food. You could randomly substitute ranch dressing, chocolate syrup or cheese in place of bacon – it’s all the same thing!

so barbec’s beer biscuits are out?

maybe the problem is adult food. why don’t you only eat fluffernutters and malted milkshakes.

ahh yeh, my weakness is cereal. I could eat gigantic bowls of cereal 5 times a day. Sigh. However, I’ve been cereal free since 11/2006. I still mourn it, and in rash moments at the supermarket I have put it in my cart only to have to force myself to remove it bfore check out.

Lucky Charms rule.

Bacon? Pick the chicken!

I love carbs – eat a whole loaf of bread everyday… plenty of energy for the long runs!

I am a carbaholic too. I love them. I could live very happily on bagels and pasta .. forever!

This post makes me want to weep – tears of sorrow at the loss of carbs (oh how I lurve those carbs) and tears of joy at your bright new future. Bright! Shiny! Good! That’s what I keep telling myself as I make tuna + celery without the 2 pieces of bread on either side. *sniffle*

And remember – Salmon; it’s the other chicken.

I watched that on Dooce the other day. HILARIOUS!! I love bacon too! By the way, fish is really, really easy to make. Just some butter, lemon, and a sprinkle of dill or parsley and voila! you have dinner!

Well, as you know, toast is my downfall. But tofu is really easy to cook, and it’s a fun, fast way to play with different tastes.

Wine and Dining out is my form of entertainment too. I can’t give up my wine. I tried, and only lasted 3 days. 3 days. But, hey – life is short and we work out butts off running. So we deserve the nector of the vines!

I totally hear you on the new diet thing, my laundry list of items I’m no longer allowing myself to eat keeps growing. I might pull the trigger and actually give up the coffee for lent, but I still have time. phew!

A friend of a friend started this great food/recipe blog. I think it’s pretty cool, if you want to check it out, http://greenlitebites.com/
