Sparta Food in Pictures

in Another Diet

This time I’ve made the photos a little bigger and added a description if needed. I also tried to put them in order. Please note, I did not always eat everything on my plate – nor did I have tortillas or chips with my fajitas. (I had to make that little disclaimer.) I think I ate too many berries with yogurt or low fat cottage cheese – It saved me, though, when I needed something sweet. I also did not lose or gain any weight. Which sucks, royally. But I am not deterred, next week I’m following the spartan diet with smaller portion sizes. How do you think I did?

Most of those foods look quite edible. I am not sure about the wasabi peas or the seaweed salad, but everything else looked good. I think it’s a bit upper class for me. I’m just a poor teacher with a running problem.

Susan, you did great! And I love the photos. My challenge is quick food on the go with little ones under tow. :) Did you seriously only drink five cups of coffee all week. I know that is my problem – two a day. urg. thanks for sharing. and Congrats on the Race!

Runner Susan January 21, 2008 at 4:01 pm

CarolinaMama, I had at least one cup of coffee every day, I missed a few in my sleepiness. Thanks for reminding me of that, I meant to mention it earlier.

I think it looks great portion-wise and you made good choices. My pictures would be soooooo boring – I eat the same thing all the time – except on the weekend. I should try this just for a reality check. My SnL just broke the news that she is on Jenny Craig and lost 4 pounds in one week. Good job on all your running–it is impressive! Did you use Isagenex when you did the cleansing thing? Thinking of trying that.

Holy Moly! This is more pictures than I have seen than reading my Food & Wine magazine. Where’s the shot of vodka? Just kidding. You beat me to the rap. I’m impressed.

I think I am really hungry right now…
Good healthy stuff and great variety. That guarantees you your vitamins and minerals!
My photos would include a piece of cheesecake and potato chips.(not together)
I know. I’m bad.

I apologize for this comment but I have not eaten in six hours and there was nothing on your food palette to stimulate my appetite. Is that a problem?

Where’s your martini?

Rich January 21, 2008 at 8:40 pm

I’d like 2 dragon rolls and a side of wasabi peas please. Every 4 hours ought to do it.

cheryl January 21, 2008 at 9:32 pm

What was the oatmeal and egg white concoction? is it separate or mixed together, it looked like it was mixed together? All your choices looked good, low in fat, and pretty healthy, you’ll lose weight this week. Stay away from the martini’s though :)

How does a rice krispie constitute a Spartan snack? Everything else look really yummy!

IHateToast January 22, 2008 at 3:40 am

1) i love wasabi peas. it’s a big snack for us.

2) i am anti-”chick peas”. i’m all about garbanzo beans. i like to eat things that sound like slang term for girly bits. i know you feel the same because …

3) you posted “fish tacos”. okay, i know i’m a tad puerile, but am i really the only one who didn’t know they existed outside of a bevis and butthead cartoon? ew! but then again, i no likes tacos and i hate fish.

IDon'tMindToasts January 22, 2008 at 5:50 am

I hate fish more than IHateToast. Fish makes me fall down.

It all looks good to me. Although terribly unpatriotic, perhaps cut the cheese.

What’s in that protein shake?

The tilapia avocado salad looks exotic.

Shalini January 22, 2008 at 1:56 pm

I think you did great. Everything looks very lean and tasty and I for one commend you on your post-race treat. Is it of the rainbow variety?

I tried to do this but, of course, forgot to take pictures halfway through the week. I’ll try and post what I have anyway.

21stCenturyMom January 22, 2008 at 2:18 pm

Excellent! Just keep doing what you are doing and it will all work out.

The Devil January 22, 2008 at 2:53 pm

Mmmm wine and soup! What a culinary delight! Everytime I see the pictures with coffee in them it makes me want to come steal your coffee maker! (or just have you make coffee for me, could you put a drive-thru on the side of your house for me?)

Ali January 22, 2008 at 3:21 pm

Very impressive, I might trying do this.

Was the oatmeal and egg whites mixed together like scrambled eggs?

Runner Susan January 22, 2008 at 3:37 pm

Yes, the oatmeal and egg whites were mixed together. I added a packet of splenda to make it a little sweet.

Looks great – very healthy!! Boy, it takes so much work to eat healthy – not to mention that it’s expensive! I was going to start my healthy eating kick this weekend, but decided to postpone tit. Good thing, or my grilled cheese sandwich and chips that I had for lunch today would not have been on the menu. :)

Dawn January 22, 2008 at 5:45 pm

Very nice! I would enjoy every single food posted, but it’s definitely WAY less than I eat in a typical week. Hmmm, perhaps that’s my problem? I’d be starving, though.

cindylouwho January 22, 2008 at 5:46 pm

Suz,
I think you are doing great! You looked very thin today during leg and arm torture work-out! Keep at it girl!

aj January 23, 2008 at 11:08 am

m’kay. my sparta pics are up… i forgot a few meals though. whoops. how do you remember to photog. everything??!?!?

Teacherwoman January 23, 2008 at 8:41 pm

Oh My goodness. I don’t think I could post everything I ate or drank. Maybe I will try it next week and have everyone tell me what I am doing wrong! :) Your platter looks great! :)
