I ran ten miles this morning, albeit not as fast as I would like – but it was stupid windy and 77 degrees. Poor me. I still felt pretty strong and did a fair amount of walking towards the end.
Here is what my next few weeks look like: tomorrow I have plyometric leg torture, Wednesday 5 miles, Thursday leg torture again and Saturday the Texas Half Marathon.
The following Sunday, Feb 17th is the Austin Full Marathon and the following Saturday, Feb 23rd is the Cowtown Full Marathon. So, it’s half, full, full for the next few weekends. Am I crazy? I did not get a long, long run in during this marathon training go around (thank you cold, illness and laziness) so I figure I’ll just use races as my long run and bippity boppity bacon I’ll be fast someday.
I’d like to qualify for the Boston Marathon sometime before I turn 40, which doesn’t leave me much time, and I don’t think only running one marathon a year is going to get me there. So this year, I’d like to run at least five full marathons and a whole gob of halfs. So that’s my plan for 2008: race, race, race, race.
Wow! You are really testing your legs.
But doesn’t it get easier to qualify when you turn 40? I personally am hoping that I am still running at 90, as that might possibly be my only hope 🙂
10 miles in 77F is starting to get warm – we call it 25C 🙂 Good job Susan.
Those 3 weeks will be a nice test. Don’t kowtow at Cowtown.
oh girly, make sure your legs recover. you make me nervous. might need to view some puppy photos from your sidebar to relax myself.
If you want to do a whole gob of halfs, you need to start watching ebay for an Indy Mini transfer to become available.
Is the marathon glass half-empty or half-full?
(Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
77 degrees? Is that normal in TX this time of year?
Happy training and running.
Wow, you are definitely my hero. I am running in my 2nd half-marathon, ever, in New Orleans on 2/24. I have been FREAKING OUT because I have not been able to train for this like I trained for White Rock. My long runs have been rough, and I have not been feeling good about this race at all.
You always just get out there and run, and I think that is awesome!! Three races in three weeks is amazing, and I will definitely keep you in mind as I try to gear up for my race on the 24th!
Well you already know that is a lot of racing. Good luck on the body handling it. That is a gob of races. I guess a gob is more than five?
Good luck Susan – it’ll be a helluva ride!
Hey I am running a half this Sat. too! Will be thinking about you! Race ya! 🙂
Hey, I am going the Cowtown 5K…whoooooo go me!! haha
Good luck! That sounds like you have your weekends pretty planned out! I hope you kick some serious butt! 🙂
10 miles and some walking. Well you could link all your races together on a single road to Boston and by the time you get there you might qualify.
