nice. yer feets gots the clap.

what works for me is to have athletic tape against the skin ONLY if that skin is rubbing the shoe. oh, and only if the skin's not rubbed raw already. tape and beester no mix, seester.
it doesn't work for skin to skin. once busted, new skin. it's awesome. as in bill and ted's excellent adventure awesome.

anyway, that works for my feet. mine. i make no guarantees.

Was this a half at White Rock? I ran 13 at W/R on Sunday by myself - doh!

I love your expression in the blister picture! I never get blisters; guess I never appreciated my concrete feet until now.

I used to get my blister in the same spot (always) and I hated. I used blisterbock (J&J) but it often rolled off as my feet got sweaty so I covered it with clothtape. It was a bit of extra work but it did the job. Thankfully those days are past me.

BTW, I like the photo:comment thing on your website. How do I get one for mine?

Wow, that thing looks BRUTAL! Did it pop during the run, or was that your own doing?

I only ever get blisters in that same spot too. The only thing I've found that helps has been was wrapping the arches of my feet in athletic sports tape. Maybe try that out. Can't hurt.

Big OUCH to the huge blister. Are you doing the mini this year? I wasn't but peer pressure and threats have forced me to buy my friends spot that she can't use. I have some good training support so hopefully I can be at least a little faster that last two miles!

Susan,

OUCH! Don't hate me for sounding like a broken record but a blister is an indication that your foot is moving around inside your shoe.

While most sources will say you should do things like:

- try different socks
- use bodyglide/vaseline etc
- try different shoes,

My solution is to look at WHY your foot is moving around in your shoe. I can guarantee you can fix this by figuring out the form-flaw that is causing this.

SEND ME A VIDEO! :)

Wow, nice blister! Whether or not I blister depends on what shoes I'm in. I got fitted several times at running stores, but it took some trial and error before I found blister-free shoes. Also, loads of Body Glide helped me. And I learned the hard way not wear any kind of band-aid or Second Skin over the blistered skin during my next long run... I ended up with blisters all around the bandage, from where it rubbed against my skin. How is that fair?! But 2:24 is a great time. Good luck!

Good, happy, or not you got it done. Congratulations on crazy part 1! I must admit I do have a foot fetish and generally turn away from blistery feet. I also have an orange shirt fetish though :)

I tend to blister in the same place (although nowhere near that bad) and I use BodyGlide and duct tape. Cover the area with BodyGlide, then put a long strip of duct tape over it. Make sure it's long enough to anchor to dry skin that is not covered in BodyGlide. Then make sure it doesn't wrinkle or roll up when you put on your socks. It works like a charm for me. Good luck.

The white contrasts well with the orange NY marathon shirt.

These work if you can get them - Band-Aid Blister Block 'cushions'. Also, get some scissors and cut away your insole where it's rubbing the foot (experiment on an old insole first - just a small square is needed by the look of things). I hope it's looking better before the first marathon :)

Susan, I had the SAME problem except my right arch (its higher)...but I did solve it in two ways. First way, I got inserts to lift my arch and only use it in the right shoe of my Asics.

But I dont wear Asics anymore but went to the Nike Vomero+2 which has a higher arch preventing the rubbing in that area of my right foot. I havent had a blister there since moving to the new shoes.

Have you tried "Second Skin" http://www.spenco.com/products/category/secondskin ? When I was an athletic therapist in University we used it on our athlete's blisters. To hold it in place use Pro Choice Athletic Stretch Tape http://www.colonialmedical.com/product.php?productid=19028 wrapped twice around your foot. When I used to run alot more distance than I'm running now, I got blisters on my left arch too and second skin relieved the pain instantly! My right arch never seemed to get it as bad.
