Slow was the name of the game today. I couldn’t make myself go any faster or do any more. 10 x 200s was all I had in me.
So instead of talking about my stealthy, but unspeedy self, I’d like to show you how the professionals keep track of their laps (Fuck the 1:01):
Pretty fancy pants, eh? We had a watch malfunction on #3, in case you didn’t notice.
And this, this is how the professionals mark the track so they can see the hash marks when it’s pitch black outside. Genius, no?
Please, no need to thank me, I’m just doing my part to spread the love. And here is what a tired and slow Runner Susan looks like at 5AM:
Suz,
Taper time! Ewen says you are too speedy…so be OK with it girl! You did great!

Tan?
Did you at least get some taquitos while you were at Whataburger????
A couple of comments –
I hate the paper method of recording lap times and splits – because paper can be lost or end up with starbucks all over it, etc. Instead, get a watch that can record and save a buncha splits and then hold that watch in your hand and record your splits while you run. (IE dont put the watch on your wrist and reach over with the other hand to record the split. That technique is reserved for rookies.
Track stars never record the minutes until after 90 seconds. Don’t ask me why, but 2:01 is OK, but 1:01 should be recorded as 61.
Carry on…
-Chris
Maybe you took the first two out too fast? You rock for doing 10×200 though – I hate track and use any excuse to cut it short!! Tomorrow is my first date with the track for my new training plan. Option of 4 or 6 800’s. Yeah, I’ll only be doing 4! Give me options I’m doing less track – seriously!
You look great – seriously. I’m not understanding yesterday’s lament now.
You need a rest day. I hope you have one on the schedule. That would be sleep in, lounge all day, go get a pedi and manicure with Kenza when she comes home from school, pick up take out, crack open a delicious bottle of wine (hang the cost!), get massage from adoring husband without re-pay BJ promise thrown in.
Sound good?
Suz,
You are now a TRACK STAR!!! Well we’re movin’ on up…to a track star! Remember the Jefferson’s theme song!! I need a nap!
Well, your tan looks nice….
Thats early and a paper is a good thing to use!.
A good traning Susan!

Nice job!
Please tell me that you either used an OLD starbucks cup to mark your track… or you drank the coffee first before dumping upside down…
Way to go.
Oh… and F the 101. ha!
how do they keep the coffee in?
dude, its 5am, get your arse back in bed. later.
It’s dark out? I’m always scared that I’m going to trip over a cat, or a rabid fox if I run in the dark. Not to mention running into a deer. Because that would be my luck.
I think you are definately going to PR.
Good luck.
I’m with Chris – 61 looks way better than 1:01 🙂
That wasn’t too bad considering the hour of the day, tiredness, drinking a huge coffee before starting (ha ha). 1:01 is still 3:34 marathon pace, so somewhat faster than m-pace. Good thinking to stop at ten.
I’m also with Laura. Probably best to start these at 48-50 secs, even if you’re feeling brilliant, then gradually edge the time down (if you still feel brilliant), or hang with 50-54 if feeling less than brilliant.
Oh yes, pen and paper rocks – that’s how we did it in the olden days – neat penmanship Cindy!
I don’t know…but you completely made me laugh tonight… The Starbucks cup is just classic.
Wow! Where can I buy that notepaper that the true pros use?
