White Rock Half Marathon Race Report: Supermodel Wonder Twins Edition

by Runner Susan on December 15, 2008

in Half Marathon,Race Reports

Our original plan was to run the half marathon as Superheroes, but since ILikeToast was a spoilsport and took his manties back to Australia we had to come up with another plan.

supertoast

A plan that was a little more natural for us. And that plan was supermodel racing. And, of course, as supermodels, we didn’t want too run fast or get too sweaty when the photographers have hired 20,000 people as extras for the photo shoot. They even had confetti.

When we were the superhero wonder twins our goal was to finish in 2:00 – 2:15 and we were double banded to prove it.

The rest of the race we were chased by paparazzi, and naturally we obliged every photographer with our grace and beauty.

We finished in 2:27:55 and received our supermodel medallions and proceeded to the post-race party where Katy would be performing cover songs of AC/DC.

I’m sure with each of us not training for 14 days and only getting 3 hours of sleep the night before added a few minutes to our time, but it’s not often you get to run with the great and powerful IHATETOAST . . . and at this race, the longer the better. You can view more pictures by clicking here.

Stay tuned because the Wonder Twins will be participating in the Jogger Egg Nogger 15k on the 20th . . . and boy, those will be some good photos because we will actually be drinking egg nog along the way!

it’s funny how the time was a whopper compared to our original goal, but i can honestly say that i had the best time out there. even complaining about the wind and dismay that we weren’t running the White Rock 100m was fun.
and if the winners’ times were much slower than normal, then it would have been show-offy to have reached our goals.
can’t wait for jog’r egg nog’r with run’r sooz’r.

Runners are weird.

Then again I guess we dress up in costrumes during cyclocross season. Oh well. It’s winter right?

Great race & report! The conditions were awful, as far as I’m concerned! I wanted to break 2 hours and instead was slower than last year’s time by 1.5 minutes. I’m glad it’s over … and now I’m trying to be like Runner Susan and run lots of races: onto the next one! :)

Who sat on Katy’s glasses? Interesting running form in ‘supermodel10′ ;)

Nice set of twin medals, and cool namebers. It’ll be fun trying to top it on the 20th.

Definitely one of the more colorful race reports I’ve read in awhile. What a fun way to blow your anticipated finish time!

Very, very nice! There is no full body photo of you though? What’s up with that?

17 david December 17, 2008 at 11:03 pm

For full body images, tune into any of the previously posted leg torture videos.

So why exactly did you sign up for this race? I saw a few indicators but none of them seemed to have anything to do with racing.

Who knew toast could be so much fun?

Give me a call next time. I’ll wear my Speedos if you wear yours.
