I haven’t been giving good blog lately, Internet People. I’m not sure why, I just haven’t felt the love. My suspicion is that you guys are all cheating on me with Facebook, and don’t think I haven’t noticed. If the blog world goes under and crumbles, don’t blame me – there will be no stimulus package for the blog world.
Moving on . . . so, just what have I been up to? Well, on Friday I got my hair cut. And if I remember correctly, general consensus was to NOT get the Katie cut. Well poopy on you – I made the cut and I love it. Abandon me for Facebook again and I’m going totally bald.
Speaking of abandonment, on Saturday I decided to ditch the bike. I tried and tried but after only six minutes and nine seconds my legs could not make the rollers work. I had nothing. I was enormously tired from running and riding on Friday. Being tired means I’m getting stronger, right? Of course it does. (See what I’m reduced to, Internet People? Answering my own questions. Thanks Facebook.)
Michael and I decided to stay home and cook instead of fighting the masses at the restaurants. I also promised the chef I would do my part. I even bought an apron and gloves so the chef would think I was serious about cooking. And indeed I was serious about being the sous chef, until the 4th glass of wine and then I got serious about giggling too much and made the chef mad so he kicked me out of the kitchen. All wasn’t totally lost; I made a fantastic artichoke bruschetta appetizer and strawberry custard dessert before my departure. We had some more wine, ate the red snapper, asparagus, and dessert and then I fell asleep on the couch. Happy Valentine’s Day, Honey!
I stayed on the couch until the alarm went off 4:30 the next morning. Oh my, that was early. Early and blurry. But have no fear, I slipped on the magical Newton’s and headed out into the 35-degree arctic temperature like a trooper. I ran slower than slow, but I finished all six miles. It was also the first time I’d taken the Newtons out for more than 3.5 miles. And I have to tell you – my right foot (aka fool) does not like the Newtons. My left foot is madly, madly in love – but the right was angry and numb by mile 4 and in quite a bit of pain by the end. I’m not sure what I was doing wrong, it feels like the metatarsal support on the right shoe is not fitting in the same spot as the left. Obviously, I still have some work to do on my form. Or maybe my foot is deformed.
It’s a love/hate relationship, this running stuff.
I hear it always takes an hour to warm up the snapper…err…marinade it…
…we’re still talking about food right?
1. I could tell you were serious about cooking because you were wearing the red heels.
2. I would like to put in my 2 cents for ditching the Newtons (i.e. high heeled running shoes) and going for a nice pair of flats. Your feet were made to run bare, Susan, not on giant foam sponge heels.
I agree with ditching the Newtons…only because I think you should ditch running. The bike is where it’s at.
All the cool kids are doing it now. Riding a bike that is.
facebook is for kids and weenies. Blogging is where it is at. I’ll stick to reading your blog and your training triumphs.
don’t forget twitter. it’s a menage a trois. they’ve desserted us. speaking of dessert, yum! that asparagus thing looks wonderful! i haven’t the self control it takes to actually make an entire dinner and not eat anything until it’s on the table.
i’d say it was the newtons that were deformed, not your feet! RISE UP AND PROTEST!
I will never leave blogging or Runner Susan for FB (although, as you know I do have a FB page…and was posting there this weekend, but that’s only because I was posting from the car, and posting to blogs on my iPhone (non-G3 version) in the middle of BFE with almost no signal is SLLLLOOOOOOOOWWWW and unbearable).
That being said, please leave me on your favorite commenter list…I know I’m not in the top five any longer (sob), but I’ll make it back… I promise, I promise!
(PS…love the haircut!)
I too love the cut. Very cute and sassy.
So…I am addicted to FB (to some extent Twitter) but I love good blog and you give it. I’ll never leave you Runner Susan and I hope you continued to show me the love too.
FYI: My tweets and status updates help to clear my head so that the quality stuff is left from my blog posts. I have a journal too (for the stuff too personal to share — if there is such a thing).
P.S. Feel the love, Susan. We love you. I love you.
The cut rocks. You and Mrs. T must be on the same page. She’s all diffy too.
Facebook is too public with its mega feeds of everybody’s special weekend or imbroglio. Twitter is just plain too much trouble for too little return.
Blogging is a private conversation with oneself and those who appreciate good blogging and chippy commenting.
You have such cute hair! I would look like Rosanne Barr if I did that cut. I love Twitter – less of a time suck. I run hot and cold on Facebook which I find kind of boring on a daily basis but good for touching base with relatives and old friends.
O oh, the hair has given you Katie’s attitude. Domestic Diva cooking with rubber gloves?
No Facebook for me – it’s so 2007.
That’s odd about the Newtons. Perhaps the worker who put yours together was having a bad hair day? Ask for your kidney back.
Love the haircut! :)Love the blog, get the feed through google reader.
Love the new haircut. It goes perfectly with red shoes and wine. Love the shoe shot the best in your pictobrowser — it says a lot. Don’t worry, I would never abandon you for Facebook.
Just. Quit. Running.

Love the haircut AND the foto of the haircut! Ha.
Your cooking looks similar to my cooking minus the cool apron. Fortunately I’ve been able to find a string of men to cook for me in recent years. Otherwise I’d probably be a lot thinner or poisoned by peanut butter…
Love the haircut, you lush, you.
Love the hair! Very cute. Resisting the urge to copy you.
Yes, busted on the FB. Sorry, I will try not to stray.
I am still here even though I do have a Facebook but I ignore it most of the time…my adoration of you (adoration but mostly that you feed me sometimes) will keep me from straying!! Although if a cute Korean boy offered to cook for me I would probably cheat on you…but I’d take pictures and share his cuteness.
Love the new coiff!!!! Suits you well! I’m a FB addict. Must have something to do with having such a short attention span 🙂
And I’m sorry…I’ll have to agree with Flatman. Stop with the running! I think it was last year when I realized that run training does NOT translate to the bike like bike training translates to a run. You’ll be surprised. Get back on the bike. Just training for HHH will make you run faster anyway.
i got behind on blogs, but it wasn’t facebook. i left that for a while. i did something totally wacky: i read books. still reading. jincy willett. i heart her. and jo nesbø. and stieg larsson. gimme nordic crime any day. keep meaning to reactivate fb, but there are more books.
then i read and forget to read blogs.
this printed thing amazes me.
I would never abandon you!! Your blog is in my Morning Coffee bookmark, which means I come here once a day (don’t know why I called it Morning Coffee, since I don’t drink the stuff).
Your hair is too, too cute. And I love your kitchen.
And how does Rowdy sit in front of food and not inhale it? My dog (R.I.P.) would inhale it at first sight.
love your hair, your kitchen, and your snapper. food right??
later.
