I’ve been on a Merlot kick this holiday season and Rutherford has certainly helped me put on my happy fat suit. This wine is the perfect example of why Rutherford Hill is truly the King of the Merlots! Smooth and full. This wine goes with more than my sassy red boots. And cheaper too, at $18.59 a bottle you can stock up big time or use the extra to stock up on glassware! I’ve recently delved into the world or Reidel and Spiegaleu and I’m a much better person for it! Is that lint or are those spots on my glass? I can’t tell and I don’t remember. At least I don’t think that interferes with the taste.

If you ever wondered, I’m always guilty. Full-bodied and peppery, with a little bit of fruit. Smooth tannins on the finish. 90 points. $19.99.

A bold 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with dark fruits and cherry flavors. The color is a nice rich plum, I’m big on color and I’m in love with the label. Screws. 89 points. $19.99.

Located in the Texas Hill Country between Fredericksburg and Stonewall, Becker Vineyards was by far my favorite of all the vineyards we visited in Hill Country. And the Zinfandel was my favorite of all the wines I tasted. I’m not sure if the 2005 is still available, but I do know the 2007 Zinfandel won some awards. $17.95 per bottle. 89ish points.

I’m also trying out some of these new and trendy stemless wine glasses. So far, me no like.

Another Australian screw-top favorite! The wine is composed of 78% Shiraz, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot, it is aged for 12 months in used French and American oak. Deep purple with a touch of cedar, earth, tar, espresso, blueberry, black currants, and licorice. That’s what it says, I just taste the good stuff. It is an awesome value at $15.99. 92 points.
